The Chick-fil-A at 5529 Bethelview Road in Cumming, on the corner of Bethelview and Castleberry Road, opened on October 1, 2026. It is a 5,180 square foot restaurant with a drive thru, and it is one of five drive thru spaces at Southard Exchange, the retail center on that corner.

We first wrote about this store in September 2025, when Chick-fil-A filed its site development plan with Forsyth County. The filing, submitted by Jennifer Santelli of Chick-fil-A, covered a 5,180 square foot fast food restaurant with a drive thru, parking, drive aisles, an outdoor dining area and associated utilities. The opening date was confirmed to Crawford Lands by the restaurant.

What else is at Southard Exchange

Southard Exchange is the retail development on the Bethelview and Castleberry corner, roughly 17 acres and about 59,000 square feet, developed by Abernathy Development and approved by the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners in March 2024. It has eight outparcels and five drive thru spaces. Chick-fil-A took one. Shake Shack, 7 Brew, Maepole and Fifth Third Bank hold the rest.

What this corner says about land in west Forsyth

A national brand with a drive thru does not pick an intersection on hope. It picks one where the rooftops are already there and the traffic counts support the store on day one. West Forsyth filled in with housing first, and the retail is now catching up to it, which is the same pattern playing out on Ronald Reagan Boulevard and at Post Road and Highway 9.
